Animals should not be kept in Zoos

Grace Marie Velez Colon. How would you feel if you were locked in a cage for the rest of your life? How would you feel if you were always on exhibition?

Zoos are prisons for animals – no one needs to see a depressed penguin in the flesh

Well lets say we were all animals not humans how would we feel to be taken from your family and dumped in a cage Domestic animals should be kept in cages but only if nessasery but im talking about non domestic animals they wernt born in a cage so don't put them into one its unfair to them. As I see this, animals do not belong in cages. We all agree? But in cases like this when, for example the tiger, is being hunted by poachers so far out that it's leading towards extinction, it unfortunately becomes necessary. We may not like it, but it's all we got, we can't always be the "good guys" in all aspects for the good.

THESE heartbreaking images of zoo animals caged after being exploited in sick shows are enough to shock anyone. The inhabitants of these cages are there solely to be watched by tourists, which lays bare the sheer cruelty that passes for entertainment in Thailand. Orangutans are shown being forced to fight in boxing rings with gloves strapped to their hands, an elephant performs tricks on a stone stage and then afterwards they are locked up with the others in hellish conditions. Environmental photojournalist Aaron Gekoski witnessed the shows on a tour of the country's zoos and is now campaigning for more restrictions over the industry. Safari World near capital Bangkok, Thailand, put on the orangutan boxing bouts for crowds of holidaymakers to watch the animals battle it out in the ring.

Every child dreams of getting the chance to see a wild animal up close and personal. This is where our Green Monster senses start tingling! Although many people think the zoo is an educational experience, studies have shown that children who visit the zoo demonstrate no further knowledge of conservation or understanding of the animals they observed. While running around a big park and getting to take home 10 stuffed monkey toys might be considered fun for a little kid, there are a few other parties who would like to weigh in on the fun-factor. Namely, the animals who live at the zoo. To the untrained eye it may appear that zoo animals are content just hanging out in the zoo , but when you take a closer look, it seems these captive creatures are none-too-pleased with us! Just see for yourself….
